(South Bend, IN) Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly attended the grand opening of the ADHD Clinic at the Madison Center. The Madison ADHD Clinic will provide testing, therapy, education, treatment and memory training for adults and children with ADHD. At the grand opening, Donnelly announced that as part of the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Bill approved by the House for Fiscal Year 2008 (FY08), the committee appropriated $150,000 to help with start-up costs for the ADHD Clinic at The Madison Center.
“Over the years, the growth of The Madison Center and the expansion of the services it provides to our community has been incredible,” Donnelly said. “It’s an honor to be here today as this facility further expands its offerings.”
Additionally, Donnelly announced that in the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Bill approved by the House for FY08, the committee appropriated $275,000 for the purchase of an automated record system for the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Funds would be directed to purchase INet, a centralized database to view patient data trends, document patient findings, update physician orders, and receive important notifications, which will reduce error and improve safety.
“Streamlining record-keeping in the healthcare industry eliminates unnecessary costs for all and improves patient care,” Donnelly said. “This automated record keeping system will improve the already-outstanding work done by the professionals at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.”
The House of Representatives has finished its initial consideration of each of the 12 appropriations bills that would fund the agencies and operations of the federal government for Fiscal Year 2008. The spending bills are now pending before the Senate. In order for them to become law, the Senate and House must pass identical bills, and if that does not happen, a compromise negotiated between the House and Senate called a “conference report” must be voted on by both bodies. Each appropriations bill must then be signed into law by the president.
