Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly and officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) toured the Mishawaka campus of the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center (SJRMC) and met with representatives of the hospital to discuss the viability of using the center for a VA Hospital.
“I thank the VA for its willingness to consider using the Mishawaka campus of the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center as a VA hospital and the speed with which we were able to set up this tour,” Donnelly said. “I’d also like to thank the hard-working employees here at the hospital for taking the time to meet with us and allowing us to look around the facility.”
Donnelly has asked the VA to respond to him with its final determination.
“The purpose of this tour was to gather information,” Donnelly said. “There are many factors that must be considered as the VA determines whether it’s feasible and practical to turn the Mishawaka facility into a VA hospital. I am committed to doing what I can to ensure veterans get the care and benefits befitting their service to their country, and that this Mishawaka facility receives due consideration.”
