Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly observed the 25th anniversary of the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial by participating in the reading of a portion of the 58,256 names of the fallen inscribed on The Wall.
“It was an honor to have the opportunity to read the names of our country’s heroes on the 25th anniversary of this tremendous memorial,” Donnelly said. “As we prepare to honor our veterans this weekend, this time of reflection gives me a chance to show my gratitude to veterans, past and present, for their service and sacrifice to our nation.”
Family members and volunteers began reading the names on Wednesday afternoon and continued until midnight. The reading resumed at 5 A.M. EST Thursday morning and will continue until late Saturday evening, with almost 2,000 volunteers taking turns.
