Washington, D.C. -  Today, Congressman Donnelly released the following statement on Congress’ passage of The Economic Stimulus Act of 2008.

“I am pleased that Congress has given our economy a necessary shot in the arm by passing this bi-partisan and broad-based piece of legislation. The Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 will provide immediate tax relief to working families while also aiding small businesses.

I am especially proud that my bill, which would provide rebate checks to Social Security beneficiaries with annual earned incomes under $3,000, was included in the final package. I fought hard to make sure over 20 million seniors on fixed incomes are given the financial boost they deserve, and I applaud Congress for including my provision in the final legislation.”

The bill will now go to the president to be signed into law.
