Statement from Congressman Donnelly on News of Mittal Expansion

Washington, D.C. -  Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly issued the following statement upon learning that ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel Corporation are planning a $240 million expansion at their joint venture, I/N Kote, in New Carlisle, Indiana that will bring 100 new jobs to the area. As a result of this expansion, I/N Kote’s galvanized production capacity will double, and the new line will offer high-grade, high-quality coated sheets that promote improved safety and fuel efficiency in automobiles.

“This is great news for north central Indiana.  Coming on the heels of the announcement that South Bend will be home to the Midwest Academy of Nanoelectronics and Architectures, it’s clear that businesses understand that our part of the state has a highly-motivated and skilled workforce, great universities and an infrastructure that gives us access to points all across the country.  Mittal’s expansion will mean 100 additional jobs for Hoosiers and an even deeper investment in our communities.”
