Washington, D.C. -  Today, Indiana’s congressional delegation sent a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) supporting the State of Indiana’s appeal of the March 20, 2008 decision by the federal government to deny Public Assistance eligibility to certain northern Indiana counties hit hard by severe flooding that began January 7th of this year. Public Assistance provides funding to local governments for infrastructure repair costs and debris removal.

The letter was authored by Donnelly and signed by every member of the Indiana delegation.

“We sent this letter to urge FEMA to grant Public Assistance to the northern Indiana counties that are recovering from January’s severe flooding,” Donnelly said. “These counties need and deserve FEMA’s financial assistance.”

On January 30th President Bush declared the event a major disaster and approved Individual Assistance for those affected by the flooding.
