Mishawaka, IN—Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly announced that the Penn Township Fire Department will receive $40,500 as part of the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program. This money is granted to enhance a fire department’s response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel with respect to fire and all other hazards.
“I was pleased to learn that the Penn Township Fire Department will receive this grant money to help them more effectively protect local Hoosiers and their own emergency response personnel,” Donnelly said. “This was a competitive grant process, and I am proud that Penn Township was chosen to receive this money.”
Penn Township Fire Department was required to submit an application for the grant, which was ranked using a competitive process overseen by fire service subject matter experts. AFG grants were awarded to applicants whose requests best address the priorities of the AFG program.
