South Bend, IN — Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly hosted Indiana’s U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) expert on the Section 8(a) Business Development Program. The Section 8(a) Program is designed for small disadvantaged businesses as defined by the SBA: those whose ability to compete has been or could be impaired because of diminished capital and credit opportunities due to race, ethnic origin, gender, physical handicap, or other applicable criteria.
“One of the most important resources we can provide for small businesses in these challenging economic times is access to capital so they can continue to purchase the equipment they need and hire additional workers,” said Donnelly. “The SBA’s 8(a) Program is an important part of this effort because it focuses on giving those who could be at a disadvantage when applying for credit the tools they need to be successful.”
Other panelists at Donnelly’s information session included small business owners and a representative from the Small Business Development Center. Attendees received information on how to apply for the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program and other small business development opportunities.
