Donnelly Encourages High School Students to Enter Congressional Art Competition

Washington, D.C.  —  Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly encouraged high school students to participate in the U.S. House of Representatives’ annual art competition, the Artistic Discovery Contest.  The winner of the competition from Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District will have his or her piece displayed for one year in the Cannon Tunnel leading to the U.S. Capitol Building.

Students currently enrolled in a high school or an educational equivalent within the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana may enter the competition.  Art work must be two dimensional, but can be in most mediums.

Interested students should ask their art teachers for entry forms.  More information is also available on Congressman Donnelly’s website, including the eligibility guidelines and submission form guidelines.

The deadline to submit artwork to Congressman Donnelly’s Logansport Office, located at 300 East Broadway, Suite #102, is April 7, 2011.  The deadline to submit artwork to Congressman Donnelly’s South Bend Office, located at 207 West Colfax Avenue, is April 11, 2011.

Area art professionals will select the winning entry. The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on April 30, 2011.  His or her artwork will then be displayed at the Crossroads Gallery in South Bend for three weeks before being displayed in the Capitol.
