South Bend, Ind. – Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly hosted his Second Annual Job Fair at IU South Bend. This event was designed to provide Hoosiers with an opportunity to connect with employers and representatives from local educational institutions and retraining programs. More than 600 people from north central Indiana attended today’s event.
Attendees speak to employers at Congressman Donnelly’s Second Annual Job Fair.
“My top priority in Congress is to help Hoosiers get back to work,” said Donnelly. “That’s why I’ve hosted events in Indiana such as today’s job fair and my job seeker workshop last month. It’s also why I’ve supported job-creating legislation in Congress, such as my AMERICA Works Act, which would better connect skilled workers with the employers who need them. I’ll continue to work hard until every Hoosier who wants a job has a job.”
Chuck Knebl, communications manager for WorkOne Northern Indiana said, “WorkOne managers saw the job fair as an ideal opportunity for Hoosiers to strengthen their communication and networking skills. Most Northern Indiana employers today seek efficient candidates who can work as part of a team, and to do so, a job seeker needs to communicate clearly with others and build professional relationships.”
Today’s job fair was the second event that Congressman Donnelly has hosted this summer to help Hoosiers get back to work. In July, Congressman Donnelly hosted a job seeker workshop designed to provide those in north central Indiana looking for work with an opportunity to learn tips on improving their resumes, interviewing, and marketing themselves to employers.
